Adire is a Yoruba word for tie and dye. It is also called textile arts which is the indigo-dyed cloth made in southwestern Nigeria by Yoruba women, using a variety of resist-dyeing techniques.
Adire was first produced and worn by the Egbaland people in the Southwestern city of Abeokuta in Nigeria. The city was historically the centre of cotton production in the nineteenth century.
I created this piece to tell beautiful story of African culture and way of life and also for my love for Arts because i believe people that make Adire can also be called artists , they make alot of designs on white clothes which i found really interesting .
I took this photograph in Abeokuta where they make this Adire.
