What do you see in the stars?
When I look at the star-forming region IC 2177, I can’t help but see a level 100 Charizard soaring through the black velvet of space.
This vast dragon blazes through the constellation Monoceros.
I love how something as primordial and chaotic as star formation can create shapes that appeal to our eyes. It reminds me of a quote by Jarod Anderson:
“Sometimes atoms just get very haunted. That's us. When an explosion explodes hard enough, dust wakes up and thinks about itself.”
The spark of life settles on us for but a moment, and we are given an opportunity to build, love, create and behold the beauty around us. After all, what is the point of beauty without someone to behold it?

This image was captured over the course of several nights from the Gulf Coast of Florida using my Esprit 120 apochromatic telescope. My aim, both with my sci-fi novels and my astrophotography, is to transport you to another world.
