Morphing animation loops, in the way I draw them, fracture time in a way. To begin, I analyze a sketch, a painting, a collage, or photograph, looking for connections between shapes, finding similarity in different forms. The smoothest transitions are the ones that can move between one thing and another effortlessly in just a few frames. With GIF art, less is often more. I have experimented extensively with densely detailed GIFs, and epic many framed GIFs that seemingly never end, but the really short ones do contain a beauty in their brevity.
For me it is wonderful to spin a loop that makes people hypnotized in a way, to shock the viewer’s system away from the monotony of endless scrolling on their phone or computer, and to get lost in the imagination for a minute. I hope it has a good effect.
