Harman's latest painting VC & Protégé is a glitching, distorted portrait of two venture capitalists, their faces twisted in laughter. The digital paint used to create the painting evokes a sense of unreality, as if the two men are not fully human but rather products of the digital world. This reflects the way that VCs are often seen as being driven by greed and self-interest, rather than by any genuine concern for the people or projects they invest in.
The two men in the painting are shown laughing together, but their laughter is not joyous. It is a laughter of greed and self-satisfaction. They are laughing at the people they have taken advantage of.
