Katabasis (κατάβασις) is a Greek term meaning "descent" or "going down." It commonly refers to a journey into the underworld or a lower realm, both in a physical and metaphorical sense.
In my short film, Katabasis is an enigmatic journey into the depths of the mind and spirit, where the traveler descends into shadow and mystery. As they navigate symbolic challenges and confrontations with the self, their identity blurs with the abyss. Emerging transformed, they carry the imprints of their descent. The story leaves us questioning whether the traveler conquered the darkness or became part of it, inviting reflection on our own inner journeys and the embrace of our shadows.
