Being truthful—especially in a space that advertises itself as being about “dialogue,” like the arts do—shouldn’t be considered “provocative.” It’s simply pointing out that the emperor has no clothes, even if many no longer recognize that analogy in 2025. The arts are not a safe space reserved for a small minority to hold the approved narrative while all other perspectives are excluded. Like academia, the arts should be a battleground of ideas—expressed creatively, yes, but still ideas in conflict.
Many work behind the scenes to brand me as “toxic” for stating the overtly obvious, while I laugh at the house of cards they desperately try to maintain, flailing like tantrum-throwing toddlers. Sure, they win at the cost of my peace of mind and earning capacity, and yes, they’d rather see me and my family starve because I don’t fit their mold. But I continue to feel the thrill of exposing how the art world is at least twenty years behind the times—while the real “collective dialogue” rages on across the internet.
Keep shooting the messenger, cowards.
