Created in early 2025, this animated GIF continues my long exploration of digital process and perception, an aesthetic I have cultivated on SuperRare since joining in 2019. Using a stark black and white dithering method, the figure emerges as both presence and absence, a “spy” archetype frozen in perpetual observation. The animation collapses time, recalling early bitmap graphics and surveillance imagery while pulsing with contemporary tension.
As with much of my practice, this work is not merely about the image itself but about the systems that frame it. Surveillance, anonymity, hidden knowledge, and the act of watching resonate with the themes I have developed over the years such as portals, disruptions, glitches, and memory fragments. This character becomes a stand-in for all of us moving between visibility and invisibility in the digital age.
Minted as a singular 1/1 edition, the piece anchors itself within my SuperRare archive as part of an evolving continuum. It is both a callback to my earliest experimental GIFs and a forward step into a refined, minimalist language that reflects the persistence of my work over more than five years on the platform.
This is not only a spy. It is the watcher at the threshold, a reminder that art itself observes, archives, and endures beyond us.
