Anxia sui

This artwork uses an adaptation of the incredible chiaroscuro work by the Flemish Tenebrist painter Adam Decoster’s “A man signing by the Candlelight”. By incorporating movement and combining the two sides of the man’s semblance a third image suddenly appears against a blue background revealing the true self. In this piece the goal is to depict the two sides of an artist longing for success through exposure while at the same dealing with the anxiety of rejection and failure and how an artist always has to maneuver through the highs and lows of the ruthless trade.
