Comments: We drove from Sweden to Norway along the coast and made it to Oslo. The first thing I was wondering was where Edvard Munch made his infamous scream, as there is a Munch museum of his masterpieces in this quiet city. It was getting dark by the time we got there and I was waiting for my internet friend, Sophia to meet with us in the park by the clocktower. I was getting nervous as the light was dwindling and I had not heard back from he yet. I saw a man with a black cat on his shoulders and approached him with my cameras. Told him about the global project and he was into it at first so I recorded him with his cat on his hat right where Sophia is standing in the video too. I thought we had bonded but when I asked him to please sign my model release for permission to exhibit it, as I always do with everyone in my artworks, he got real weird with me suddenly and refused to sign it. He said he was a famous writer for magazines and did not trust me because he did not know me, I was a stranger and he must've thought I wanted his credit card information or some fear he was projecting on to me. I did not understand what was happening as the vibe shifted from good to strange. So, I said I understand and moved on. It sure is a pity. I do not like wasting film and since I left the rest in the car I was uncertain how much film I had left to make a new portrait. This is always the risk when shooting with strangers. It's up to chance. Luckily, Sophia arrived as the sun was setting and we had a bit of light to work with. She stepped into the spot the man with the cat in the hat was standing and she jumped on the stones like hopscotching into the fountain and back. The original plan had worked out after all. I learned a very valuable lesson that day. Fear forced me to find a way through. I was afraid to fail, afraid to disappoint, afraid to miss out on the moment especially as the light was washing away into the clouds into twilight. What is this fear and why? It was me trying to adapt because I did not know if Sophia was coming or not. So the man in the top hat with the cat was reflecting his fear back on to me in a way. The lesson is to trust and be patient. But also to try and take action. There is a balance. And maybe both ways are right. To always have a back up plan and improvise. To adapt to the situation and surroundings if time is delayed. It's also trusting yourself as well as the process and how those two meet in the middle. Perhaps me shooting the cat and that hat was a way to pass time and practice before my friend showed up so we knew exactly what the frame would be. Sophia brought her own flare with her warm smiles and good vibes. We worked fast and the light dipped behind the clocktower. We hung out all night with her and her friends spending the evening walking around her fair city and making art in our air b and b. At the end of the day, I realized we just have to make art when it feels right. Even if other people say yes in one instance and no in the next. We are still creating a vision and sharpening our craft. For when the real piece is made it will manifest itself. She showed up and my fear disappeared. How could I have known it would work out? It was our first time meeting. And her and her family were the stars of the show for the next few days. Mom and sis. Today and tomorrow. They showed so much love and even saved the day. Which I will save that story for tomorrow! Goodnight dear friend.
