Comments: When I arrived in Athens, Greece my friend Nickos, who is a photographer, picked me up and was with his dear friend, Florencia. She was a fashion model. It was perfect harmony to be riding in the car with a portrait photographer and Grecian super model to a surprise location Nickos had in mind for sunset. After an hour, as the sun was nearing a set, we arrived at the Temple of Poseidon; The great god of the oceans. His temple ruins from the 5th Century BCE were set on top of the hill with panoramic perspectives of the sea. There were a few people there and the sunlight was thinning quick. There were golden rays illuminating the Doric columns. Florencia jumped on a sitting rock and we started to create her portrait. Without any direction, she started to move. Like an oracle in Delphi summoning prophecies, or an Athenian goddess calling upon her soldiers for might in the Homeric battles of the Trojan wars. She moved with the beauty of the sun and wind at this ancient site. Honoring the ancestors and gods that came before. The dancing rituals by the fire lighthouse for navigating the sailors in the night. As the red streaked across the sky and mirrors on the surface of the sea. Waves rippling across shimmering specks of crystalline lights from the sky reflected above. Where you can see the rainbow through the angles of the star and the dust in the atmosphere. She stopped dancing and we sat and watched this sublime sunset until all the colors disappeared into the speckled cosmic rain of the galaxies in the starry night. We departed this ancient place and made our way back home. Where a gyro was waiting for me. Reminding me of the Greek restaurant my mother used to work at and take me, Athens Square. A slice of my childhood brought back to life through where I was because when in Greece is like when I was in Rome.
