For that is how we got to where we are today, as we build for tomorrow. A man with his beloved wife and children playing in their garden. “To the gods I am indebted for having good grandfathers, good parents, good teachers, good friends — and that I was preserved from the path of pride and folly.” “From my adoptive father: gentleness and unshakable adherence to decisions once deliberated upon. Never to be content with mere appearances, but to act from reason and justice; to show no sign of anger or passion, yet to be full of humanity.” “From my grandfather Verus I learned good morals and the government of my temper. From the reputation and remembrance of my father, modesty and a manly character. From my mother, piety and beneficence, and abstinence, not only from evil deeds, but even from evil thoughts; and further, simplicity in my way of living, far removed from the habits of the rich.”
