He was the DJ for the art show. He invited us over to his house to hangout and listen to more music the next day. Our mutual friend Kevin and his girlfriend came over to hangout too. Luke started playing his dance music with Ethan and then things started to get a bit hazy... We spent hours in the afternoon chilling together. Reading books, talking, and sharing laughs. The sun lifted over the building and brightened the cavernous lofty room. The darkness was lifted and the dust settled. He lived across the street from a large church. The golden light was shining through the window illuminating the room with a soft heavenly glow. It felt like a psychedelic & religious experience. A divine kiss of light on your third eye. In this moment of clarity, we started talking about our fathers and shared the same prayer. For family, for healing. Luke had a gig to play and we left his house. Ethan and I were walking through a tree filled back alley between streets. He asked me to help him be an influence to help quit smoking. He pulled out his pack of cigarettes when we were walking home. He didn't want to smoke anymore. I asked if I can take them. He said yes, I grabbed the pack and tossed them away. We didn't look backward... and we went forward to the tea house, yet again. We sat and drank while planning our 50 state journey ahead back home in the US.
