Comments: My buddy Max Roseglass, who is a member of the Dirty Fences, invited us over to his home to meet his newborn baby and elderly father, Mark Roseman. Three generations of Roses growing in the garden. It was odd timing as he has been inviting me over and living in this home for a few years now and was planning to move back to New York, where we met. In a way this was a farewell to his homestead. I met Max many moons ago while I was shooting band covers and portraits for a few musicians but the Dirty Fences. always felt like family since we were nearly next door neighbors when I lived off Beaver street. I remember when they built a concrete skatepark in their backyard, I am sure it is still there today, how will that affect their security deposit? I don't know and they didn't seem to care. Punk rock shit! They were my favorite band in Bushwick, perhaps even all of New York City! Max welcomed us in and introduced us to his father who was holding the baby. The baby looked at Ethan and I with glazed eyes and a warm smile. As did his dad. We got into a conversation about Dubai when he used to live there. He told us about how the narcs were even narcing on narcs. A strange tale, yet that line I will never forget as it made Ethan and I laugh many times during the roadtrip as an inside joke now... We had acquired a few of those during the roadtrip in America to keep us giggling on the empty road with long hours in between. Laughter was our medicine and cured our boredom. Max mentioned he had his beloved creamy truck in the backyard so we went outside to check it out. His father sat with the baby in a chair while we were thinking of where to make his family portrait. Then an idea hit me like a truck; This was the shot! Max sat in the vehicle in the background then transported to his dad and son to stand with them. You can feel the responsibility and the love all at once. He was the man of the house now. Honoring the past generations and upbringing the next. This is how we've evolved as humans for so long. One family at a time. And it all begins and ends with love.
