Liquid Courage transforms the familiar ritual of celebration into an object carrying the visual language of conflict. A champagne bottle is reimagined with the mechanism of a hand grenade, collapsing the distance between indulgence and danger into a single darkly comic image. The piece plays on the phrase “liquid courage” literally, questioning the confidence, recklessness and false invincibility often associated with intoxication. What initially reads as a symbol of success and celebration becomes something considerably less stable, a reminder that sometimes the difference between a good night and a bad decision is simply pulling the pin.
