This wooden ship has been in my partner's family since the 1940s. It has bounced around houses and locations many times, and in the early summer of 2025, somehow found itself at my studio.
As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly how I wanted to use it in photos/video. My partner is also a boat builder, and is very fond of sailing and the sea. I just happened to have an antique diving helmet, which was perfect for the entire look.
One evening in early September 2025, I finally decided to film the video/take photos of the images that were in my head all summer. We rushed to Plum Island, MA to catch the sunset/blue hour. We quickly lugged my equipment, the ship, the wardrobe and the helmet into the sand and down the beach a ways. This is the video I filmed that night.
