Remnants is a series of drawings based upon the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest of the Eastern Sierras in California. Some trees here are as old as the pyramids. Each pillar of time grows slowly, battered and twisted by its extreme conditions.
Reflection depicts a tree I met along the Methuselah trail in Inyo National Forest in 2020. After communing with this tree, I headed home along Route 395 and saw plumes of smoke and ash filling the air. The sun slowly turned into an eerie red dot the further I drove. I arrived home at dusk and the clouds turned pink. As I thought about my journey, this drawing emerged.
