What we see may never be the thing itself, but only the shape our perception gives to it. Green and blue may seem to resemble nature only because memory has taught us to make that association. Perhaps color, before history names it, belongs to no landscape at all. To truly see, one must look again as if for the first time, stripped of habit, freed from inherited meanings, and open to the possibility that the world begins only where recognition ends.
