Causa

The origin. The beginning. A silent force that lies in the essence of the self, a yearning to understand that shapes the world. The glow that illuminates what has been and what can be, the pulse of a will to grow. The firm belief of knowledge as a key, the first cause that opens all doors. A deep bond with the power of knowing, the testimony of an aspiration that nourishes and redefines, shining with the promise of potential. "Causa" delves into the transformative power of knowledge, addressing identity through the emotion of aspiration. The piece uses a vast body of social data from Argentina, with a focus on education, as its dynamic component. An intelligence algorithm that interprets the information does not seek a direct answer, but rather reveals the patterns and asymmetries that configure the structure of reality. This approach allows the work to become a reflection on the desire for knowledge and the potential to effect future changes, expressing the ability of the human spirit to move forward by embracing knowledge. The visual narrative is manifested in a sphere, a sphere where each element represents a group within the social composition of the country, a cartography of knowledge and potential access to it, a reflection of the educational level and life trajectory. Movement is the narrative core of the work. Each section represents a pre-established pattern, a fixed constellation that, at first glance, seems immutable. However, desire acts as an invisible and constant force, which drives change. It reveals how aspiration generates a break, allowing new paths to be traced. The piece is a testament to how the desire to know has the power to reconfigure patterns, converting it into an active force that challenges the status quo to trace a promising future. "Causa" is not just a visual tribute to the essence of knowing, but an experience that invites the viewer to reflect on the potential of the desire for knowledge within the construction of identity and tomorrow. The process for Causa begins with the collection of raw material: a vast body of social and educational data from Argentina, extracted directly from INDEC and the Permanent Household Survey (EPH). This data, which captures variables such as Total Family Income (ITF), Age (CH06), and Years of Education (CH12), becomes the work's foundation. An AI model (K-MEANS) is the central engine of the piece. As a clustering algorithm, it does not manipulate the data randomly. Its purpose is to analyze hidden correlations and patterns within the variables, categorizing each individual into a specific cluster. In this way, the AI becomes a revealer of the social structure, showing how the system organizes people's reality based on socioeconomic and educational factors. The result of this analysis is translated into a data sculpture where each element represents a group of individuals. The position is determined by the category of their cluster, as well as by the relationship of ITF, CH06, and CH12 within the latent space. The work acquires its quality as a living organism when the desire for knowledge is translated into a visible force. This transformation is made possible by the technique of electroencephalography (EEG), which captures the artist's brain activity in real-time through sensors. The system interprets these signals to generate a movement that reconfigures the connection between the elements, illustrating how the yearning for knowledge can break down barriers and modify the structure of reality. A specific role is given to each of the brain frequencies in this process: Gamma waves, associated with concentration and intense learning, act as the force that drives new alterations in the pre-established patterns; Theta waves, linked to meditation and introspection, alter the position of each cluster; and Beta waves, tied to a state of alertness and conscious activity, control the general reconfiguration of the data sculpture. The piece culminates in an audiovisual experience where each data movement activates a new level of the work. Over the result generated by the cerebral interaction, the AI generates an abstract flora that symbolizes the inherent force of desire as the engine of organic growth and the origin of rebirth. In parallel, the music complements the reflection as the pulse that sets the rhythm at which the sculpture and the AI generation are unveiled and combined. In this way, Causa becomes a testament to how the yearning to know is an active force capable of redefining the structure of reality.
