"DAUGHTER OF E.V.E. (Ex-Vivo Uterine Environment)" is a unique media-rich poem written, performed and visualized by Sasha Stiles, with original music by Kris Bones. Created in 2021, this work is adapted from a printed text first published in Stiles’ book, Technelegy (Black Spring Press Group), a collection of AI-powered words and images embedded in their own training data, in the form of Stiles’ own human verse. “DAUGHTER OF E.V.E.” — whose title nods to a poem by the celebrated Victorian writer Christina Rossetti, and evokes the mythos of humanity’s origins and the impact of technology on womanhood — is an important marker in Technelegy’s training data set. It also exemplifies Stiles’ approach to transmedia authorship, in which next-gen creative tools are employed as poetic devices, opening up new possibilities for the future of language.
