Few women exemplify resistance like Frida Kahlo. Frequently dismissed as a "woman artist" in her time, and often not taken seriously by her peers, Khalo’s work depicts the experience of navigating the world as a woman in a way that feels both raw and unapologetic, Kahlo was at the vanguard of challenging societal norms and stereotypes. By combining Kahlo’s work with the BAYC, Aboud represents the history of the struggle for women artists- embracing both the future - and the past. NFTs on the blockchain allow for a more equitable and decentralized structure, eschewing existing power structure and art market paradigms. While women still have a long way to go for equal representation in the conventional and NFT art world, art on the blockchain allows for a more equitable and diverse group of artists to build a more inclusive art history.
