nuptiae noctis

this was the first encounter. before the flowers began to grow through the flesh, before the garden became something beautiful and cruel, there was only a creature and a single blue flower. it found the flower in the darkness. it did not know what it was, nor why it seemed to be waiting for it. but the longer it looked, the more the flower seemed to look back. its roots began to wind around the creature’s hair. its scent entered the skin. Its colour slowly appeared in the shadows of the body. it was not an attack. it was an invitation. and the creature accepted. that night, flesh and flower became something neither of them had been before. Nuptiae Noctis; the nuptials of the night. this was not the birth of a garden. it was the beginning of a world. a world where flowers would no longer simply grow beside the body, but through it. a world that would eventually learn to bloom with teeth. _____ © ARIANR — All Rights Reserved.
