Osinachi: Saints & Common Citizens - Part I
A solo exhibition presented by SuperRare x Objkt
Part I of this collection, titled “Saints” comprises four artworks that at their core mirror the divine in the digital age. The series is a fascinating journey in the reimagination of what it means to be a saint in our technologically advanced and visually saturated contemporary world.
In making the artworks, Osinachi integrates the pervasive elements of modern society, particularly smart phones and the phenomenon of the mirror selfie, directly into the portrayal of saintly figures. By doing so, the artist teaches us how spiritual passion and devotion manifest within the context of 21st-century life, bridging the gap between ancient sacred narratives and our immediate, digital realities. In each of the four pieces, he leverages the mirror selfie not just as a trend, but as a potent medium for self-authorship, allowing these modern 'saints' to frame their own stories and virtues as they wish to be perceived.
Ultimately, "Saints” forges a new visual language that is both deeply rooted in Christian iconography and vibrantly resonant with contemporary visual culture.
