Unfinished Past is a series of 150 participatory, time-based AI-generated artworks inspired by memories shared by strangers online, friends, family, and the artist.
Each work begins as a recognizable moment from a lived experience. Over the next seven years, it transforms according to one variable: whether its owner chooses to engage with it.
Once a year, a short question about the piece surfaces on-chain. Owners may respond, or do nothing. That decision, repeated or avoided year after year, determines how the image changes and makes the final artwork a record of a seven-year relationship between collector and work.

If an owner chooses to remember by engaging with the annual question, the artwork changes slightly, echoing the way a real memory shifts over time. After seven years, it becomes a moving image with gentle variations, still recognizable.
If an owner chooses to forget by not engaging, the work gradually and permanently fades. After seven years, it becomes a moving field of color and noise.
Neither outcome is better. Remembering and forgetting are both human ways of relating to what we have lived through. Each final piece will reflect the choices, attention, and distance accumulated across seven years.
