When I'm feeling lost, I like to remember that life's path for each of us is like a flowing river. There are unique bends and curves to the rushing torrents, and there are obstacles that get in the way (or even block it completely at times). Of course, we can try our hardest to change the course of things, tossing in boulders, building dams, and digging up shorelines... But in the end, it probably won't make much of a difference.
Instead, I try to remember to pay attention to the minor details, the bubbles, the roar of turbulent spray. Every moment, every little side story, every missed exit and heartfelt smile... They're what really make up the river, and they're what your story really consists of.
