復歸於嬰兒 “Return to the state of a child” (Dao De Jing, Chapter 28)
“He who is full of the power of virtue is like a newborn” (Dao De Jing, Chapter 55)
We are born transparent. Then the adult world comes with its texts: what is permissible, what is necessary, who one should be. Word by word, it covers us with interpretations and superfluous texts, until the face turns into a page and the consciousness into stone.
The seam on the head shows that the consciousness is “sewn up” and the adult world has interfered with the very essence. The hieroglyphs on the face function as conventions, rules, and other people’s texts that cover a person until they begin to take them as their own.
Osho spoke of this as the main drama of human existence: society makes us hardened so that we can survive, and we forget that we didn’t need to survive for the sake of being hardened.
A great man is one who has not lost the heart of a child” (Mencius, 4B12)
In this sense, meditation is not a technique, but a return: to remove the layer of text and see that beneath it, the child is still looking out, with a pure, benevolent, and non‑demanding consciousness.
Return to the state of a child” (Daodejing, Chapter 28)
This collection is about how we have become overgrown with separations, and about how purity has not been lost, but only covered up. Each work is an awakening and a return to the roots.
