Tempest

I’ve always had a passion for photographing moments in the rain. There’s something about being out in the squall, saturated and constantly challenged by the relentless, punishing winds that make most turn towards home, that makes me feel inspired. I'm in my element. I’ve always been proud of the work I create in extreme weather, however I’ve always felt that the ability to fully express just how intense these gales are in a still image is limiting. How could I as a photographer channel and truly convey their fierce nature? From that thought, and through the work of Transient Labs, Tempest was born. This is my first dynamic and interactive work of art. I wanted to ensure that this piece was true to the genre of street photography, which needs to be candid. This meant that I would be challenged to find a subject that could stay still long enough to capture this moment; and I did. By interacting with Tempest, I want the viewer to feel immersed in the storm, to be able to feel what the subject matter feels; complete submission to the situation, yet a level of admiration and wonder at the beauty that such strong conditions can create. To interact, simply swipe your mouse or drag your finger across the image, and watch it come to life.
