An ofrenda is a kind of alter used in Dia de Los Muertos celebrations. An ofrenda often has a photo of the deceased, along with some of the things they most cherished during life. This interpretation didn't find its way into the final ballet ("Spirit Garden"), but I like it because it reminds me of how I imagine a "bad trip" on LSD might seem.
