This is an image taken from my children's book "The Mirror," published by Harbinger House in 1989. It was created on a Macintosh computer using "PixelPaint," the primary precursor of Photoshop. This was in the day of 8-bit color, which limited me to a total of 256 colors. There was no such thing as anti-aliasing, which is why the image has "jaggies," that I chose to emphasize rather than try to obscure. In the book, two groups of very small beings--the Moos and the Foos--deal with prejudice fomented by General Foo, who is intent on building a wall.
I have increased the resolution and size of the image. The original digital files were lost long ago, so this image was taken from a scan of a copy of the book I once gave to a nephew.
"The Mirror" is widely recognized as the first ever children's book created in color on a computer to reach publication.
For that reason and for others, the book and this digital image are a treasure and... SuperRare!
