It is early in the morning when the 2 nurses come to get me and take me to Dr. Rosetti and put me on the chair.
Today I am going to be sterilized. I will never be able to have children again. I have always dreamed of a big family. Laughing children playing among the vines while my husband picks the grapes....all that will never happen.
The doctors think it is best because my epilepsy is hereditary. But no one has ever asked me if I want this. It is my body, my life. But I don't have a choice, just like I don't have a choice to be here.
The anesthesia begins to take effect. I slowly fall asleep. The last thing I see are the empty eyes of Dr. Rosetti, the man who took my dreams.
