They handed me this cold artifact, a relic from the age of consensual hallucination.
It smells of ink and gunpowder, of promises and ultimatums. They called it a unit of account, a medium of exchange, but in my palm, it feels only like a trigger, a pin waiting to be pulled. Its skin is a fragile membrane holding back a torrent of diluted potential.
The true mechanism isn't the hammer or the fuse, but the printing press in a distant temple, a machine that hums a constant dirge for the value it devours. This weapon doesn't fire a single shot; it explodes slowly, silently, across generations, a generational theft disguised as stability.
But listen closely, past the hum of the press and the rustle of paper.
There's a new sound, a chime of cryptographic certainty, a block locking into a chain with the force of an axiom. It's a different kind of power, one that asks for no faith, requires no master, and cannot be counterfeited by kings or committees. It is the weight of pure scarcity, the final word in a language that cannot lie.
