I captured this 35mm film photograph in a remote part of Iceland in July of 2023.
I stood before a sweeping view of an Icelandic landscape under a heavy, gray sky. Along a dirt road, a solitary animal skull lies on the ground, bleached by time and elements. Behind it, a rugged mountain stands over the landscape, underscoring the vastness and raw beauty of this place. The skull juxtaposed against blooming wildflowers and sweeping green foothills, life and death coexisting. A moment that portrays the dichotomy of this place, beautiful, yet unforgiving.
