The smoke has cleared. The Sovereign’s ash is cold, and the Chancellor’s ink is dry. No more prayers, no more decrees. Now, look closely at the center of the dark forest, right at the edge of the crimson table. There is no king here. There is only him.
He wears a bell-cap, but he will not make you laugh. His bony hands in gloves are hovering over the wooden square. This is the Royal Jester, the master of the silent game. You thought the Sovereign ruled the borders? You thought the Chancellor carved the laws? Look closer. They were just wooden pawns on this blood-red board. He moved them. He threw them into the dark. He sacrificed them for a victory you will never understand.
Every slide of a pawn is a human life cut short. Every drop of amethyst smoke is a chapter written by his iron will. He knows who will fall tomorrow in the swamp, and whose crown will turn to rust when the winter snow comes. He possesses a watchful mind and a cynical heart; he doesn’t want your silver, and he doesn't care for your applause. He just wants to finish his grand, silent layout.
Stand before his board. Do not speak, do not breathe. Wait for the bony hand in the glove to make the choice for you. The first act of the palace is done, the gates are locked, and the key is buried deep in the mud. The frost is coming to freeze this court, but the Jester is already resetting the pieces. Step into the fog and watch the ultimate gambit unfold. The game is his. You are just a move.
