Afghan, 2022

I made this picture of my two cousins (who are sisters) in our grandparents' summer home (which is really an old two room schoolhouse in the Ozarks, complete with the original lead paint that no one ever changed or painted over). My grandparents have since passed, but this is a place where time stands still, where my grandmother's Afghan from fifty years ago is still is draped over the antique sofa she carefully positioned in this corner one summer, and where you can still see her eyes in the eyes of her great granddaughters decades later.
