"In the beginning, machines were created to imitate us.
Then, to replace us.
Now, no one remembers who the original was."
In a future where the line between human and cyborg no longer matters, Rin, an engineer turned experiment is the last one to carry a biological heart. The System deems him a flaw, a remnant of a fragile past and that fragility is what makes him dangerous. Rin lives in a world where consciousness can be transferred, death has become a backup, and the soul is nothing but encrypted data.
While automata pursue efficiency, he searches for meaning.
While they dream in digital silence, he still bleeds and the blood reminds him of who he once was.
“Perfection is the coldest form of forgetting.”
Between flesh and titanium, he stands as the mirror of lost humanity a living proof that to feel pain is still an act of resistance.
This work is a reflection on identity, mortality, and transhumanism, part of the Automata universe, where the human and the synthetic merge until the difference becomes only a memory.
