The legend of El Dorado has evolved over time from the story of the mythical chief to that of a hidden city of untold riches in South America. Yet today, its story also encapsulates the unquenchable thirst for gold that has resulted only in tragedy, many a times down a descent into madness as beautifully written by Edgar Allan Poe.
"Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride, "
The shade replied -
"If you seek for Eldorado!"
