Flagster, while a fan of Muskulls, is an ardent acolyte of Virmo, the giant worm creature that hypnotized him into carrying on his flag & convincing other beings that the best thing for them is to be eaten by Virmo & having your spirit absorbed into his collective hivemind. As a reward for this proselytization, Virmo psychically shares the best memories of those within his hivemind with Flagster.
Flagster originally was known as Jonathan, son of James “Jumping Jehosaphat” Jackdanielson, patriarch of the Wowbrow tribe, a group of blue skinned horned hunter gatherers all of whom grew up without the signature stinging tail which was the offensive weapon used by their ancestors. Legend has it, an ancestor of Muskulls cursed their tail off after Flagster (or Jonathan’s) ancestor refused to pay tribute. Ever since then, the Wowbrows have been reduced to begging for scraps & worshiping inside the Candlebear Tower for guidance (center left) . Contrasting with his tribe, Jonathan became Flagster & found dignity in this, regardless of all the souls he traps within the hivemind for the sake of his master.
While Flagster’s deal with Virmo guarantees spiritual sustenance, the ground dwelling Seebears provide nutritional sustenance as the other side effect of viewing the best memories of others is acquiring some of their tastes. This carnivorous nature being antithetical to the vegetarian ideals of the Wowbrow tribe which in the past only stung for self defense and was the straw that broke the camel’s back, causing Flagster’s family to disown him. Nevertheless, Flagster has a bright disposition towards the future & what adventures await him. He hopes to forge an alliance between Muskulls and Virmo though this is a trap in order for Virmo to eventually eat Muskulls.
Other than Virmo, Flagster's only other friend in the world is "Toon" the crescent moon he sees up above the sky at night & only Flagster can see Toon as personified this way.
