As I stood holding our two Jetski’s my friend remarked at our far later than usual time of departure as he arrived back from parking his car and trailer, the sun was breaching the horizon, the ocean steaming in the icy cold, we’d normally have been down the coast at our usual destination but we decided to go the opposite direction this morning and it was freezing all night so getting moving and putting on wet gear from the afternoon before took some encouragement.
We sped out towards the tip of the coastline protecting our little bay, we rounded the cliffs as the sun began to rise and started to settle into our journey down the coast with the sun rising behind us when all of a sudden a giant humpback whale burst into the air infront of us quickly followed by a second
A quick scramble to unpack my camera and housing wrapped in my backpack, as these two beautiful creatures danced in the morning sunlight. We sat with them for 10 minutes watching them frolicking as if we weren’t even there, they seemed to settle from their big energy burst and we continued down the coast with our minds blown at what had just unfolded so unexpectedly.
