Hancock Gorge in The Karinjini Ranges of North Western Australia are a truly special experience to visit. Unlike some of the wider gorges in the area, To reach where this photo was taken one has to descend into the earth, making your way through cold pools of water amongst towering walls of rock. There is a tranquil peace in these places, but an unnerving feeling when you understand that these gorges have been formed by torrential down pours over millions of years. Not a place you would want to be in if it started raining.
