After 16 hours of driving, including the last four down a 70 kilometre long four wheel drive track through arid unforgiving bushland, without seeing a soul, I arrived to this view as I entering onto the salt plain that lead up to this incredible pile of sand.
A gale force wind was whipping white sand across the plains, it felt like being in some sort of frozen landscape, except it was not ice particles whipping across the surface, It was sand.
I go and do some pretty extreme things in the ocean.. remote, wild. but for those trips we usually dont go alone. Here I was alone, completely self reliant on my equipment and life experience. I felt the most isolated I have ever felt. It was kind of terrifying and caught me completely off guard. This is why I must return, to face this fear I experienced in the exposure of an unforgiving land.
