The Concert, Disrupted

“The Concert, Disrupted” is a reimagining of “The Concert” by Johannes Vermeer, one of the thirteen stolen masterpieces featured in Netflix’s latest docuseries, “This is a Robbery,” the story of the world’s greatest art heist. I chose to disrupt the concert with a spastic flock of doves as a metaphor for the disruption of the art world when the original painting was stolen. Doves typically symbolize peace in many cultures, but the aggression of the doves in this piece may speak otherwise. For long as the original artwork is missing, may the concert be disrupted.
