Accepting The Shadow

Within the hidden recesses of my mind, another me resides. A shadow self. A part of me that I have often subconsciously ignored or denied. A place where shame, guilt, pain, sadness and anger resides. For most of my life I felt its presence, but I couldn’t comprehend what it was all about. So it remained hidden. Until one day, I just knew, it was time. I was ready. I had to know, what resides within the hidden depths of my mind. When I finally faced my shadow self, it was heavy. I shed many tears. But the journey was all worth it, for something became very clear. I can not be whole, without accepting it all. Somehow being aware of my shadow self, seeing all of my flaws, all of my fears, it made me more accepting, compassionate, patient and loving towards both myself and others.
