May the Fourth Be With You

A conceptual photograph in honor of Star Wars Day (May 4th) that was captured on a decommissioned B-52 in the California desert. The entire mission involved a ton of preparation and planning from pinpointing these abandoned planes online, to parking off a dirt road and hiking a mile across the desert in the dark to locate them. The angle of the photo had to be just right, highlighting the FORCE letters and in-tact nose of the plane along with the wreckage of the body and severed tail in the back. I used a single lantern to light up the cockpit and climbed on top holding a bright LED spotlight to act as the light saber. The frigid temperatures during the winter slightly fogged up my lens producing a slight glow around my body and flaring of the brighter stars in the sky. In a single click of the camera shutter, the entire concept came to fruition making it appear that I had just crash landed my plane awaiting an attack from the incoming TIE fighters with my lightsaber drawn for battle.
