Refuge

Amidst the chaos and darkness we create a refuge of light and security, an illusory oasis and escape from the fears and anxiety of the realities and inevitabilities of those things beyond our control. This painting gradually constructs itself digitally, carving out and building a sanctuary from the darkness of an unsettled world beyond. Mother/pool/fence/home create a layered ephemeral womb for the temporary safety of the child before he eventually leaves the orbit of the maternal gravitational pull and embarks along the road to adulthood.
