Dark Mode

Video, 2160 x 3840. 4min 12sec. "Dark Mode" was part of Vainionpää's first New York solo exhibition with The Hole NYC in May 2022; Presented alongside her new series of paintings, it was Vainionpää's first immersive video piece, mapped across three walls in the back “apse” of the gallery. Contrasting Vainionpää’s traditionally light, ethereal, and optimistic style of painting, "Dark Mode" plays with colors, textures, and lighting that are moody and nocturnal. The 4-minute long 4K looping video is accompanied by a unique synth score written specifically for the project by Montreal musician Nick Schofield to create a full sensory experience. The full resolution file is physically delivered to the collector on a unique dark mode USB stick. Includes a Verisart Certificate of Authenticity.
