CRUMBS OF INDEPENDENCE

This piece is a personal declaration. One of my greatest fears is becoming dependent on a system that was never built with people like me in mind. For many who are blind, the only path offered is one of government aid, not by choice, but by circumstance. The barriers to independence are real. But this artwork is my refusal. It shows a blindfolded figure kneeling for scraps beneath the cold gaze of Uncle Sam and a silent cult of cloaked observers, symbols of the systems and powers that expect submission. I created this to remind myself who I will never become. I will not bow. Even when the last of my vision fades, I will still create, still speak through art, and still stand on my own terms. This is not just a fear. It’s a vow.
