Modern Fata Morgana

“Fata Morgana” was the name given in the Middle Ages to an illusion that deceived sailors: imaginary cities rising on the horizon, images promising salvation. In today’s world, however, this illusion no longer belongs to the dreams of a traveler lost at sea, but emerges within the desires of the modern individual, seemingly complex yet fundamentally simple. The shadow cast by a plastic bag, evoking what is not truly there, surpasses the reality of the object itself. This illusion is not merely an optical play, but a fragile projection of the desire for freedom produced by simulation.
