Seeing two Bald Eagles fighting over food, you’re basically watching a high-stakes aerial contest driven by instinct, hierarchy, and opportunity.
Bald eagles are opportunistic feeders—they’ll hunt, but they also steal (called kleptoparasitism). If one eagle catches a fish or finds a carcass, another nearby eagle may try to take it instead of hunting itself.
Competition is intense, especially in areas like Grand Teton National Park where wildlife is concentrated.
