In about 1985 I created a series of large acrylic-on-canvas paintings depicting mysterious figures in the company of some unique tropical fish. The gallery directors howled that they'd never be able to sell them. Two years later, they had all sold and people were clamoring for more. I have revisited the series on occasion, most notably in 2016 when I did a series of small paintings on metal using similar imagery.
And now I'm at it again, taking advantage of some of the unique characteristics of digital tools now at my disposal. This is my first revisit of the ATDWTS theme using these tools. "Picasso" is part of the title because that is a Picasso Trigger Fish. I had a saltwater tank in my home when I was a young man, and just such a fish was the featured resident. And in case you missed it, the title reminds us that the Earth changes, and at one point the Sonoran desert in which I live and work was once at the bottom of the sea. That ghostly landscape you can see around and within the figure is an imaginary landscape I painted earlier this year.
