First Time ever recorded. Bubble Net Feeding in Hawaii!
Humpback Whales do not typically do this in Hawaii. They normally do this up north where they have Krill. To capture this video is Rare at any location but it being Hawaii makes my mind spin.
With patterns changing I have seen very unusual behavior. But not once have I captured them on Video.
To share this moment will document that they do in fact change patterns if needed. Adapting in the Wild is how animals Survive.
Humpback whales typically fast or feed minimally during their time in Hawaiian waters. Instead, they focus on mating, giving birth, and nurturing their calves. The warm waters of Hawaii serve as a breeding and calving ground rather than a feeding ground for these majestic creatures.
The lack of substantial feeding activity during the Hawaiian winter months is believed to be due to the absence of their primary food sources, such as krill and small fish, in these warmer waters. As a result, humpback whales rely on their energy reserves built up during the summer feeding season to sustain them throughout their time in Hawaii.
While it's possible for humpback whales to engage in some opportunistic feeding if suitable prey is available, it's not a primary behavior observed during their migration to Hawaiian waters. Instead, they're more focused on reproductive activities and caring for their young in these warmer, tropical waters.
