Emerald Bay is located on the southwest shore of Lake Tahoe, near the California-Nevada border. It is nestled within the Sierra Nevada mountain range and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
The bay is famous for its emerald-green waters, which give it its name. The pristine beauty of the bay is enhanced by its rugged shoreline, towering cliffs, and dense forests.
One of the highlights of Emerald Bay is Vikingsholm, a historic mansion constructed in the Scandinavian style. Built in the 1920s by wealthy socialite Lora Josephine Knight, Vikingsholm is renowned for its architectural significance and picturesque setting.
Fannette Island: Rising from the center of Emerald Bay is Fannette Island, the only island in Lake Tahoe. It features the remnants of a stone teahouse built by the same owner of Vikingsholm, adding to the area's charm and intrigue.
This particular day. Storm approached with 3 ft of fresh snow. Most areas were closed off including Emerald Bay. Only way to view this location was by Drone or by Boat. Luckily the two aligned in one image.
Fascinated by beauty. Emerald Bay is special!
